Senegal ELCAUPPER SUSQUEHANNA SYNOD MISSION

To make Christ known.

UPPER SUSQUEHANNA SYNOD VISION

All members of the Upper Susquehanna Synod growing as disciples of Jesus, serving together to make Christ known.

STRATEGIC DIRECTIONS FOR THE UPPER SUSQUEHANNA SYNOD

In partnership with the congregational and churchwide expressions of the church, in order to make Christ known, we will:

  • Equip the baptized to live as children of God-claimed, gathered, and sent for the sake of the world.
  • Promote faithful, vital, healthy congregations as centers for mission.
  • Lift up, prepare, and support leaders for the church, both lay and ordained.

OPERATIONAL VALUES FOR THE UPPER SUSQUEHANNA SYNOD

  • Accessibility of synod staff for providing needed pastoral care to rostered leaders.
  • Openness to and support for implementing new ideas.
  • Encouraging partnerships among congregations to share ministries or best practices.
  • Engaging the baptized in the collaborative ministries of the wider church.
  • Fostering participation in ministries through the gifts and passions of people and congregations.
  • Regularly incorporating new leaders into ongoing ministries.
  • Facilitating healthy interdependent relationships and interactions within and among the expressions of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
  • Working cooperatively with our ecumenical partners for the sake of mission.
  • Encouraging welcoming and safe worship and ministries for all.
