SUMMARY:USSWO Convention
DESCRIPTION:The Upper Susquehanna Synodical Women’s Organization Convention will be held on July 26\, 2025\, at Faith Lutheran Church\, Lewisburg\, with the theme of For All the Faithful Women (Luke 1:45). This year they will be putting together Period Packs which will be sent to CWS for distribution. Each WELCA group attending the Convention is asked to bring either regular Tampons\, Super absorbency Tampons or packs of 12 Pads (unscented\, long super ultra-thin). The plan is to pack 200 kits. Any extra items will go to a local shelter. All other items needed for the kits will be supplied by the USSWO. Considering all the natural disasters the In­ gathering offering will be sent to Lutheran Disaster Response.

DESCRIPTION:Pastor Gary Schaeffer (Milton Lutheran) and Charlene Rineer (Christ’s\, Lewisburg) are organizing a youth mission trip for this summer. They are inviting anyone who would like to be part of it to join them. Some information is below. Reminder:  Youth who want to go will need to pay a deposit of $100.00 by Easter. \n  \nClick here for a flyer with this information. \nToledo\, Ohio Service Learning Camp\nJuly 20-26\, 2025 Cost – $425.00\nFor 6th through 12th graders\nContacts – Cassie Mugler and Don Marsh \nSome of the possible projects \n\nLet’s Build Beds. This is a wonderful organization that builds beds for children ages 3-17. The goal is to provide safe sleeping space. This project involves building the beds and delivering them (if you choose) to the children. There is also an opportunity to get your congregation involved by collecting bedding and bringing it along.\nClean Your Streams. Toledo is on Lake Erie\, and we have been affected by lack of clean water in our area over the years. This project usually involves trash pick-up or cleaning/painting storm drains.\nInner city community gardens\nBuilding picnic tables\nWorking at the food bank packing boxes for senior citizens\n\nA hunger workshop at the beginning to help Groups get in the mindset of serving people in poverty. One thing they will be doing this summer specifically is trying to get groups to interact with more people in the community. \nAdditionally\, the area has a wonderful Park system. We can do things like hike\, kayak/canoe\, swim\, par9cipate in a class at the park (archery\, fishing\, Paddle-boarding\, Etc.) The zoo is world award-winning and has a high-ropes course (great for team building)! It is close to Cedar Point\, so the plan is to go there on Friday. \nWe will be staying at a church and making most of our meals there. We will have a few dinners out. Youth who want to go will need to pay a deposit of $100.00 by Easter.

She will offer an overview of changes coming to the benefits plan. She will be with us for the whole day and available for one-on-one conversations as well. If you are not part of Portico and would like to join the CML adult Bible study\, you can do that at this time. \n10:45- conversation with Bishop Miller on issues raised at synod assembly \n12:15- Lunch (please RSVP for this at the link above) \nFree time after lunch to do what you’d like to renew or join in with Family Camp electives. This is also time to have one-on-one conversations with the Bishop or Tara. \n2:45- Closing Prayer/Sending (Bishop Miller) \nBishop’s Days provide synod leaders opportunities to engage with the bishop and enjoy collegiality in rest\, renewal\, and re-creation. Register by midnight\, August 10\, to receive a T-shirt. \nTiming is electronic and all miles are marked. There is one water stop on the course. Runners decide on race day if they want to do a 5K or 10K but cannot change once the race starts. Awards for top male and female finisher for each distance immediately following the race. Finisher awards for all finishers. \nThe event also features a one-mile fun walk on a dirt road with the same registration fees and amenities. Following the race\, there will be a Kids Fun Run! The age groups are 6 and under and 7 – 10. Special awards will be presented to every participant in the fun run. \nThe Dandelion Run\, begun in 2002\, is organized by Joel and Shelley Heasley of Middleburg\, assisted by Shirley Heasley of Mifflinburg. The family started the race in memory of Rev. Glenn E. Heasley\, Jr.\, former Assistant to the Bishop of the Upper Susquehanna Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Glenn’s favorite “flower” was the dandelion\, because no matter what you do with them\, they always rise again! \n  \n

SUMMARY:Camp Mount Luther Sunday
DESCRIPTION:Members of the congregations of the Upper Susquehanna Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) will celebrate outdoor ministries in February. Synod congregations will join to celebrate the annual “Camp Mount Luther Sunday” on March 2\, 2025\, Transfiguration Sunday. The Upper Susquehanna Synod Council designated that day to be “Camp Mount Luther Sunday” to help promote outdoor ministries in the synod. Congregations will uplift the ministries of the camp during their worship services that day. \n\n\nCamp Mount Luther is an extension of the ministry that is done in local congregations. The camp is asking that congregations promote the camp on that Sunday or designate another Sunday this spring to do so. Ways to promote the camp include bulletin inserts to share with congregation members\, Temple Talks\, camper testimonials\, bulletin board displays\, special camp music during Sunday school and church services as well as special offerings being collected. These activities are all expected to be done during worship services across the synod.

SUMMARY:CML Fundraising Dinner
DESCRIPTION:Join Camp Mount Luther on Sunday\, February 23\, 2025\, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Evergreen Center at the camp for a Fundraising Dinner! The dinner will be held immediately following the camp’s annual Taste of Camp event featuring songs\, snacks\, games\, a campfire program\, information on the 2025 program\, and more! \nThe menu will consist of ham\, twice-baked potatoes\, vegetable\, roll\, dessert and beverage. A minimum of $15 per person is suggested as a donation for the meal. Reservations are needed and can be made by contacting the camp office at (570) 922-1587 or cml@campmountluther.org. The deadline for reservations is Tuesday\, February 18\, 2025\, at 9:00 a.m. \nCome and enjoy some fellowship\, fun and good food during the wintertime at Camp Mount Luther! It should be a great afternoon to gather and support our outdoor ministry!
