Two Authorized at Learning Event

A day of learning, fellowship, and the commissioning of two new Authorized Lay Worship leaders was held on May 3, 2025, at Milton Lutheran Church. Amber Keefer (Good Shepherd, Berwick) and Chad Hershberger (Christ’s, Lewisburg) were commissioned at the closing worship service presided over by Bishop Craig A. Miller with Rev. Theodore Cockley as the preacher. Cockley’s message was titled, “Stand in Front of the Stove.” The day began with a keynote on congregational communications by Hershberger, who also serves as the synod’s director of communications. Workshops included Children’s Messages, Ministry Beyond the Walls, Reading for Public Consumption, and the Heart of Lutheran Theology. Members of the church provided lunch at this event sponsored by the Lay Ministry Institute.
